Export Snapchat Memories to the camera roll

iPhone

Restore on a computer, AirDrop the folder or copy via Files/Finder. Select the images → Share → Save to Photos. Dates should match the EXIF we wrote. If iOS still uses “today,” you saved the unrestored originals.

Android

Copy the restored JPEGs into DCIM/Camera or a dedicated album folder, then open Google Photos → Utilities → restore device backup, or let backup pick up the folder. Media store uses EXIF DateTimeOriginal on JPEGs.

Save the restored folder, not the raw export

Camera roll is the last hop. If you save the unrestored -main files, or the transparent overlay PNGs, the gallery fills with today’s date and black squares. Run the ZIP through the homepage fixer first, then use the share sheet or a USB copy.

iPhone and Android disagree about where a multi-gigabyte ZIP even lives, and about whether the phone should unzip it at all. That comparison is Android vs iPhone. The in-app Save button, which never builds this ZIP, is phone vs web.

Duplicates from an earlier one-by-one save

Anything you already saved from inside Snapchat is a separate file with whatever timestamp the phone wrote that day. Importing the restored archive does not replace those. Hide or delete the “today” copies after you confirm a 2017 file landed on the right year.

Videos follow the same rule once Pro has written QuickTime creation time. Free restore dates the first 15 photos so you can test the share-to-Photos gesture before you commit the whole library.

How to save a Snap to the camera roll

Open that one Memory and use Save or Export to Camera Roll. That writes a single item on the phone. It does not export the library, and the date on that save is whatever the phone writes that day. A whole shelf is still My Data, then the restored folder, then the share-to-Photos steps above.
