Chat photos are not the Memories export
People download My Data, open the archive, and expect every picture that ever appeared in a chat. Snapchat’s Memories export is the shelf you saved to, not the thread you scrolled. This page is that distinction. It is not another way to request the same ZIP.
What “saved to Memories” means
Snapchat keeps a Memories page: camera roll-like snaps and stories you chose to keep. The official bulk download of that page is My Data with Memories included. The files show up as older memories/ media, or as 2026-style -main photos and videos plus -overlay PNGs. memories_history.json is the sidecar for dates and locations on those saved items.
A snap in a conversation is not on that shelf until someone saves it. Viewing it, replaying it, or screenshotting it (which is a different image on your phone) does not add the original to Memories. When the ZIP has no matching file, the export did not lose it. It was never in the set you asked for.
What a chat export is, if Snapchat offered you one
Account JSON can include friend lists, settings, and sometimes a text history, depending on the toggles you checked and what Snapchat included that month. Text is not the photo. A row that says a snap was sent does not contain the pixels. If your archive is HTML pages and JSON and nothing that looks like a JPEG or MP4, you downloaded the account packet, not the Memories media.
Go back to Snapchat My Data and include Memories. Download every part. Large libraries arrive as mydata~ plus numbered ZIPs. The pictures can sit in a later part while the JSON sits in the first. Opening only the smallest file is how people conclude the photos were deleted.
What this site will and will not open
If the scan says zero photos, stop. Another pass on the same JSON will not invent JPEGs. The empty-archive cases live on Memories not downloading. This page is only the case where the files you hoped for were chats, not Memories.
- Will scan Memories media and memories_history.json from the ZIPs you drop.
- Will write capture dates, GPS when the JSON has a location, and optional overlay bake.
- Will not sign into Snapchat or request the export for you.
- Will not reconstruct an unsaved chat snap from a JSON sentence.
- Will not decrypt My Eyes Only.
Screenshots and “I already have it on my phone”
A screenshot of a chat is a picture your phone took of the screen. It has the screenshot’s date, not Snapchat’s capture time, and it is not inside My Data. Saving that snap to Memories first, then exporting, is how the original file enters the ZIP. The screenshot and the Memory can both exist. They are not duplicates this tool should merge.
Stories you posted are Memories only when they were saved there. Spotlight and chat media follow the same rule: if it is not in the Memories download, this fixer has nothing to date. Request the official archive with the Memories toggle on, then drop that ZIP — not a folder of screenshots — on the restore tool.
Common questions
Why isn’t a chat photo in my Memories ZIP?
Memories are snaps you saved to the Memories page. A photo that only lived in a chat, and was never saved, is not that export. Opening the chat is not the same as saving it.
I only got HTML and JSON. Where are the pictures?
You exported account data without the Memories media. Go back to My Data, include Memories, and download the archives that actually contain photos and videos. JSON alone cannot be turned into the camera roll.
Can this site pull my Snapchat chats?
No. Drop an official My Data ZIP you already downloaded. Nothing here signs into Snapchat or fetches a chat thread.
Are My Eyes Only snaps in the clear ZIP?
No. My Eyes Only is a separate locked area. A Memories fixer cannot decrypt it from the export, and this site does not try.
